Originally constructed in 1901, Knitting Mill Apartments project is the conversion of a vacant historic knitting mill into 100 units of affordable senior housing located at 69 Alden Street in the City of Fall River, MA. Epsilon secured the state and federal historic tax credit approvals to provide vital financing for the project.
Overview
Originally constructed in 1901, Knitting Mill Apartments project is the conversion of a vacant historic knitting mill into 100 units of senior housing located at 69 Alden Street in the City of Fall River, MA. The mill at its peak in housed thousands of knitting spindles and employed hundreds of people. Rehabilitation of the granite building was completed in 2019 and included affordable senior housing and various amenities and services, including the inclusion of Fall River’s Flint Senior Center.
Contribution
Epsilon provided historic preservation planning services securing state and federal historic rehabilitation credits for the adaptive reuse of the former Mill No. 2 complex at Wampanoag Mills.
Achievement
Liberty Affordable Housing Inc. received a 2022 Paul & Niki Tsongas Award from Preservation Massachusetts for its Knitting Mill Apartments project.
