Epsilon Announces Staff Promotions

July 18th, 2024

At Epsilon Associates, we take great pride in the diverse community of scientists, planners, engineers, and professional support staff who form the backbone of our firm. Our team is made up of professionals at various stages in their careers – emerging, mid-career, and senior leaders – each contributing their expertise and advancing their professional development through a variety of challenging and rewarding projects across the Northeast and beyond.

We are excited to announce the promotion of seven exceptional team members from our Energy, Air Quality, Marketing, Acoustics, Human Resources, GIS, and Planning Groups. These individuals have demonstrated outstanding dedication, hard work, and leadership, and their promotions reflect our commitment to recognizing and rewarding these qualities.

Congratulations to Our Recently Promoted Team Members:

James Bailey has been promoted to Project Scientist in the Energy Services Practice at Epsilon. James originally joined Epsilon’s Coastal Group in 2022 from a contractor role on the Vineyard Wind 1 Project and immediately jumped into the deep end of the permitting world. Under the guidance of many colleagues, James worked diligently to master the regulatory and construction oversight processes for coastal projects, becoming a vital member of our Vineyard Wind 1 construction oversight team. Earlier this year, James embraced a new challenge: a seconded position within National Grid’s New England Environmental Permitting Group, assisting with the permitting of maintenance activities on their electric distribution system in Massachusetts. James approached this assignment with his trademark enthusiasm and positive attitude, viewing it as a unique opportunity to further hone his consulting skills.

Gabby D’Arcangelo has been promoted to Project Engineer in our Air Quality Group. Gabby joined Epsilon’s Air Quality Group in 2022, bringing with her a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Princeton University and a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from Cornell University. She’s currently preparing to take the Fundamentals of Engineering test this fall, the first step toward becoming a Professional Engineer. Since joining Epsilon, Gabby has contributed significantly to developing successful outcomes for our clients. Notably, she provided onsite support for various existing power generation facilities and played a key role in helping develop a defensible air emissions tracking system for these facilities. Gabby’s ability to solve complex problems, communicate effectively, and balance multiple projects has made her a valuable asset to the Epsilon team.

Sydney Mason has been promoted to Marketing Specialist in Epsilon’s Marketing Group. Since joining in 2023, Sydney has consistently brought a fresh, creative perspective to our marketing materials, drawing on her Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design, which she earned from Southern New Hampshire University in 2020. Her work has been key in enhancing Epsilon’s visibility and supporting the company’s growth. Sydney is also actively involved with the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), further expanding her industry expertise. In her new role, she will focus on developing and implementing advanced marketing strategies to help elevate Epsilon’s presence in the environmental consulting industry.

Laurie Morrill has been promoted to Lead Scientist in the Acoustics Group at Epsilon Associates. Since joining Epsilon in 2021, Laurie has built a strong foundation in sound modeling analysis for a wide range of energy projects, including solar and wind farms, battery energy storage systems, biogas facilities, and natural gas compressor and meter stations. Her expertise in evaluating potential community impacts, ensuring compliance with noise regulations at local, state and federal levels, and supporting permitting processes has been invaluable to our clients. Laurie is proficient in developing and executing sound level measurement programs, constructing predictive sound models, and designing effective mitigation measures to meet both regulatory standards and community expectations. Her work across multiple states has consistently provided thorough and accurate assessments, crucial for supporting environmental and regulatory requirements.

Krystal Pasquarello has been promoted to Senior HR Specialist in our Human Resources Group. Since joining Epsilon in 2022, she has been instrumental in advancing Epsilon’s HR Information Systems as the company continues to expand geographies and grow. She brings a fresh perspective and innovative approach to developing programs and protocols related to the development of company policies, training, career development, new employee onboarding, performance reviews, and other important business and employee related functions. Her significant contributions help create and foster a culture that boosts our employee engagement, retention and performance while keeping them safe and healthy.

Rob Sheldon has been promoted to GIS Specialist in our GIS Group. In the two years since joining Epsilon, Rob has proven himself to be a key member of Epsilon’s GIS team, demonstrating exceptional institutional knowledge and expertise in environmental reporting and GIS applications. He routinely leads some of our more complex linear mapping assignments to support our offshore wind and energy sector clients such as National Grid, Eversource, Atlantic Shores, Avangrid, and Vineyard Offshore. As a leader in the GIS Group, he also has played a crucial role in advancing our GIS related capabilities, including introducing the use of ModelBuilder for advanced queries, CAD for generating intricate profile graphics, and he led the company’s migration from ArcMap to ArcPro.

Emma Marcou has been promoted to Project Planner in our Planning Group. Emma joined Epsilon in 2021 as a Staff Planner and quickly became instrumental in helping the team navigate the new Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) Environmental Justice Policy. She drafted some of the first EJ screening forms, outreach plans, and EJ narratives for Environmental Impact Reports for submission to the MEPA office. Since then, Emma has taken on a leading role in managing both Boston Planning & Development Agency and MEPA projects, such as 83 Leo Birmingham Parkway, Lake Shore Center, and 66 Cambridge Street. Additionally, Emma has shown great enthusiasm in her leadership role within Epsilon’s Ascending Professionals Group, demonstrating her dedication to her own, as well as her colleagues’ personal and professional development.

Congratulations to James, Gabby, Sydney, Laurie, Krystal, Rob, and Emma on your well-deserved and hard-earned promotions.
