Ally Connors, JD - Senior Scientist, Ecological Sciences Group
Ally Connors, JD to Epsilon as a Senior Scientist in our Ecological Sciences Group, Ally coordinates environmental and regulatory reviews and permitting of critical wetlands and waterways projects at the local, state and federal levels, and provides strategic regulatory support for Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA/NEPA) submittals, Energy Facility Siting Board petition preparation, and impact statement preparation. Ally received her Juris Doctor and Masters of Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School, her B. S. in Geology from Union College and has worked for seven years within law firms as an Environmental Law Clerk, a Transportation & Environmental Justice Legal Extern, a Paralegal, and a legal support staff member.
Zhi Hao (Edward) Li - Senior Engineer, Air Quality Group
Epsilon is pleased to announce that Zhi Hao (Edward) Li has joined the firm as a Senior Engineer in the Air Quality Group. Edward has over eight years of experience supporting the energy industry and large industrial facilities’ air management and Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS) programs. He will also support multimedia permitting for new facilities and modifications. Edward graduated with high distinction from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in 2015 where he received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and minored in Materials Science and Engineering.
Kevin Amberger - Staff Scientist, Acoustics Group
Epsilon is pleased to welcome Kevin Amberger as a Staff Scientist in the Acoustics Group. Kevin is a recent 2023 graduate from State University New York, Oswego where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Physics with a Minor in Astronomy. His coursework included advanced electromagnetic theory, materials science, thermodynamics, advanced and quantum mechanics, and astrophysics. Kevin completed his capstone project during his final semester where he compiled data GNUplot to create graphs from various frequencies, created extraction scripts and used Python to create a histogram of the various frequencies overlaying each other. He is experienced in a variety of software platforms and programs including Python, Java, LaTeX, Maple, Ubuntu OS, Windows OS, Oscilloscope, Voltmeter, and Multimeter.
Dan Kenney - Staff Engineer, Acoustics Group
Epsilon is pleased to welcome Dan Kenney as a Staff Engineer in the Acoustics Group. A Summa Cum Laude graduate from Syracuse University, Dan earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Electrical Engineering. He earned his Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University. He has experience and expertise in installation and testing of Ion implanters to consumer specifications including high voltage power supply performance and tool operation in vacuum.
Katerina Matjucha - Staff Scientist, Air Quality Group
Epsilon is pleased to welcome Katerina Matjucha as a Staff Scientist in the Air Quality Group. A Cum Laude graduate of the University of Washington, she majored in Environmental Science and Recourse Management with a concentration in Environmental Health. Through her coursework she is familiar with calculations and models pertaining to chemical and particulate emissions, atmospheric dispersion, air toxics screening, and GHG controls and reduction. Katerina has produced preliminary designs for 19 discrete projects featuring hydrology, earthwork, waste management, landscaping, and sustainability assessments.
Christine Purpura - GIS Analyst, GIS Group
Epsilon is pleased to welcome GIS Analyst, Christine Purpura. Ms. Purpura earned her Bachelor of Psychology from State University New York, Oswego, Minoring in Health Science. Christine graduated with a Master of Science in Geography from State University New York, Buffalo (SUNY Buffalo). Her thesis project at SUNY Buffalo, involving GIS, Forest Composition, Ecological Survey, and Core Sample Analysis, examined changes in forest composition in western New York by comparing changes in tree species populations across a 200-year time period. In addition to Ms. Purpuras interest in GIS, she partakes in numerous professional associations including the American Association of Geographers, Sierra Club, Center for Biological Diversity, The Nature Conservancy, National Wildlife Federation, Adirondack Mountain Club, and ArcUser. Christine is located in our Albany, NY office.
Ladonna Smith - Staff Engineer, Energy Group
Join us in welcoming Ladonna Smith as our newest Staff Engineer in Epsilon Associates’ Energy Services Group. Ladonna previously worked as an Environmental Engineer and Environmental Permit Manager for a large construction firm. She received her Bachelor of Technology degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering Technology from State University of New York at Canton. Prior to Epsilon she worked as an Environmental Engineer and Environmental Permitting Manager where she performed environmental compliance assessments and implemented follow-up corrective actions. Ladonna is located in our Albany, NY office.
Caitlin Spind - Staff Scientist, Offshore Wind Group
Epsilon is pleased to welcome Caitlin Spind as a Staff Scientist in the Offshore Wind Group. Caitlin is a graduate from the College of Holy Cross where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with a Minor in Environmental Studies. She earned her Masters of Science degree in Marine Biology from Northeastern University. Prior to joining Epsilon, she worked as a Fisheries Technician for the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries monitoring smelt, herring, and eel populations using fyke/seine nets, baited traps, and video/electric counters. She also frequently performed aquatic habitat assessments and collected water quality data.
Xander Struyk - Staff Scientist, Acoustics Group
Epsilon is pleased to welcome Xander Struyk as a Staff Scientist in the Acoustics Group. Xander is a recent Magna Cum Laude Northwestern University graduate where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Physics and Minor in Computer Science. He has experience with numerous software programs such as Python, Java, SQL, C, and C++. Relevant coursework included vibrations and waves, database design, and algorithm design and analysis. Mr. Struyk worked with a team of more than 30 researchers across a dozen institutions and presented findings on electronics grounding solutions and reducing signal noise at the 2021 SBC Collaboration Conference. At the conference he led a talk on background mitigation research happening at Northwestern.
